Royal Wedding: Meghan Markle’s Wedding Day Makeup

After months of build-up, the day finally came for Meghan to marry Prince Harry. The wedding took place on the 19th May 2018 at Windsor Castle. Meghan wore a gown by Givenchy designed by Claire Waight Keller. As much as the dress is important for a wedding, the makeup and hair are also significant as all will combine together.

It appears Meghan relied on her staple look of a soft smokey eye and nude lip. Meghan had her long-time friend and makeup artist, Daniel Martin do her makeup for her big day. When Meghan reached Prince Harry he looked at her and said ‘you look amazing’- we could not have agreed more. It is said that you will want to look the best version of yourself in regards to your wedding makeup, whilst remaining comfortable and long lasting throughout the day.

Meghan stayed true to herself by not using a heavy foundation, rather a sheer cover to show her freckles and natural pigmentation. Her brows and eyes were similar to Audrey Hepburn, Meghan’s twist on the classic and flirty makeup. The makeup also seemed similar to Kate Middleton’s on her wedding day in 2011, both being smokey yet natural. It is said the Queen is particular about how much makeup the royal family can wear, believing too much makeup would be a misrepresentation of who they are. Meghan seemed to stay true to herself as well as follow her new royal duties as she became the Duchess of Sussex.

We know Meghan’s makeup will influence brides for years to come. Take a look at our makeup artists and start planning your wedding makeup today!
