Hollie and Martyn first laid eyes on each other at a St Patricks Day party which was being held at their school. They had already left by then but went back and met by chance…
“Martyn said Hi to me as he was leaving and I had no idea who he was! I later found him online during the good old days of Myspace. We got talking and the rest is history!”
Martyn proposed to Hollie on a trip to New York. “My dad had just passed away and Martyn surprised me by booking the trip to NYC. Whilst we were there we went to central park and sat on a hill top taking in the views listening to a man play ‘the way you look tonight’ on the saxophone. When I looked around Martyn was down on one knee! I was completely taken by surprise as I thought the trip was to help me grieve my dad passing but it turns out he had been planning the trip for years.”
We couldn’t help but find out more about their special day and this is what they said…
What was the weather like on the day of your wedding?
The weather on the day of our wedding was perfect. To be honest we were really quite lucky with it being November, but it was a bright sunny day with a crisp autumn breeze. The venue had heaters placed around the gorgeous gardens with blankets to keep our guests warm!
What was the ceremony time and where was it held?
The ceremony was held at South Farm in the Old Dairy at 2pm.
Where was the reception?
The reception was held across the court yard in the Tudor Barn.
What was the main reason you picked the venue?
South Farm was just so beautiful and different. You had exclusive use just for our wedding, so there was no chance of bumping into another bride! The whole farm was for our friends and family so it was really intimate. The gardens made it all feel really magical.
How did you choose your suppliers?
We looked around for the best suppliers for the theme we were going for. We wanted everything really simple and rustic and chose suppliers we were comfortable with and who had the same vision as us!
What were the moments that you remember most?
Hollie: I will never forget walking down the aisle to our chosen music and just seeing Martyn look back and cry! It was so emotional but romantic, and nothing else seemed to matter.
Martyn: Looking back and seeing Hollie in her dress for the first time was amazing!
Do you have any advice or tips for future brides?
Plan everything in advance! It creeps up so quickly and you have extras that you forget about, so really plan and research everything you want included in your day so you do not miss things.
Would you do anything different?
We would have loved a videographer but left it too late to find someone by the time we had even thought about it! Luckily family recorded the most important moments for us on their phones.
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We went to The Halycon hotel which is a Sandals resort in St Lucia.
